Vietnam’s Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng has expressed a strong commitment to enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the United States during a meeting with the newly appointed US Ambassador Jennifer Wicks in Hanoi. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the US as a key partner for Vietnam, highlighting a desire to bolster cooperation across various sectors including trade, investment, technology, education, digital transformation, and security.
In their discussions, both leaders underscored the need for a fair and balanced bilateral trade agreement that would provide greater certainty for businesses in both countries. The meeting also addressed cooperation in defense, cybersecurity, law enforcement, and humanitarian assistance. A significant portion of the dialogue focused on addressing the lingering impacts of the Vietnam War, such as efforts in dioxin cleanup, removal of unexploded ordnance, and the identification of missing soldiers.
