In response, Zimbabwe’s chase fell short as they were bowled out for 235 in 45.1 overs. Craig Ervine and Sikandar Raza briefly revived hope for the home team with a 98-run partnership following the loss of four early wickets. Ervine contributed 59 runs before being dismissed by Nathan Ellis, while Raza scored 57 before falling to Spencer Johnson.
Nathan Ellis played a pivotal role in dismantling Zimbabwe’s lower order, finishing with remarkable figures of 5-31 from 9.1 overs. His effective bowling ensured that Zimbabwe’s momentum was halted, securing the win for Australia.
The series continues with the second ODI scheduled for Friday in Harare, followed by the third match on Sunday, as both teams look to build on their performances.
